A Message from the TrentAging2019 Co-organizers

The second joint NANAS/ENAS conference is fast approaching! “Take Back Aging: Power, Critique, Imagination” (May 28-31) will feature 192 conference paper presentations and 48 panels, with participants from many countries.  

The Trent Centre for Aging and Society is excited to be co-hosting this conference at the riverside campus of Trent University in the Kawartha Lakes district of Ontario. Sessions will be held at the new university student centre, on the Otonabee River.

Plenaries and Gala Dinner 

Plenary speakers include Dr. Martha Holstein, Dr. Josephine Dolan, Dr. Stephen Katz, and Dr. Kathleen Woodward. 

Plenary Events include a film screening of CrackedA New Light on Dementia based on research conducted by Drs. Pia Kontos, Sherry L. Dupuis, Gail J. Mitchell, and Christine Jonas-Simpson. The researchers developed the original play collaboratively with director/playwright Julia Gray, professional actors, people living with dementia, and their families. As well, Dr. May Chazan, Canada Research Chair in Gender and Feminist Studies at Trent University will present an Aging Activisms Plenary and Media Café called Storying Activisms: Re-imagining Cultural Imaginaries of Aging.

A Gala dinner is included and will be preceded by a keynote by Dr. Stephen Katz. The NANAS Emerging Scholar Conference Paper Prize and the ENAS award for the best MA and PhD theses will be presented.

Student / recent postgrad Presenters – prize deadline approaching!

A special note for our student / recent postgrad (24 months) presenters — please enter your paper for our NANAS Emerging Scholar Conference Paper Prize, for a chance to win a free one-year membership in NANAS and a $100 USD prize.
